The United Nations (UN) is an intergovernmental organization entrusted with keeping up worldwide harmony and security, growing well-disposed relations among countries, accomplishing global co-activity, and being a center for harmonizing nations’ activities. It was built up after World War II. The world is vast, and countries are far apart from each other. Closing this gap is critically important as climate, development, security, and humanitarian issues spur progress in other areas.

Instead of considering these to be different endeavors, it would be useful to look at the consistent subjects that keep running over each territory. Looking at these subjects with compassion would help us remember the need to think about all-encompassing, possible solutions to reach the world’s most vulnerable populations while addressing fundamental issues undermining harmony and prosperity.

In recent years, we have seen many women assuming leadership positions on the rise, working strategically to dramatically improve the wellbeing of people living in the world’s most neglected crises.  Is it time for a woman to lead the UN?
